SSL

What is SSL on a Website?

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a client—typically a web server (website) and a browser, or a mail server and a mail client (e.g., Outlook).

What is SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a standard security protocol for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a web browser. This link ensures that all data exchanged between the browser and the server remains secure. SSL allows your website and your visitor’s browser to transmit private, sensitive information without the worry of eavesdropping, web forgery, and data tampering.

How can I tell if a site has an SSL connection?

If a website URL starts with HTTPS:// and there is a padlock in the address bar, then the website is using a secure TLS/SSL connection.
